good effort...but falls short of classic @MBD86
If you go into it thinking...its a low budget, 1970s, poorly acted, Craven-directed no less, horror flick then it definitely entertains! It's hard at times to get through the slap-stick dark comedy that ensues, but it's nice to see the tables turned. It definitely inspired many horror movies..and I also recommend seeing the original before any remake!

WOW, 1972 made me 12 at the time. My sister worked at a movie theater and I got in for free. Gave me nightmares I remember to this day. It was also the first time I ever saw a girls boobs, I was sure I was going to go blind. Watch this movie for it was Wes Craven's 1st film.
Disturbing @Boxers R Better
I saw this movie for the first time at a drive-in theater when I was 16. I have always described it as "disturbing". It disturbed me so much as a kid that I never would hitch-hike or hang out with people I didn't know. The way it is filmed lends to that lingering sense of horror I have felt for the last 41 years. It is so creepy and at times impossible not to watch through your fingers.

this movie is a classic on so many levels its gore is much more disturbing than what the remake has to offer because its made in a way that tests the mind, and the style of music (in which it plays weird happy hillbilly-ish tunes or bizarre sound effects and noises as a soundtrack) makes it much more creepy than the style of the remake. (and the death scenes are just plain better and its kinda like watching a documentary where its live footage)

My mother went to see this movie in 1972 in theaters when it first came out with her best friend. she tells me later that they didn't realize what they were going to see untill it was too late. She claims to this very day (40 years later) that the violent happenings and events that happened in this movie still haunt her. and she will occasionally have terrifying drema ssimilar to the moive plot. She and her friend still wish they had never gone to see that movie, so think before you watch people. So let me tell you something...WATCH IT!
