I just finished the show. Very good IMO. I like the use of the subtle body language and facial animation to convey things. Was very solid. I think most of the people that dislike it (not all) went in expecting action when the show barely has any and isn't about the action at all. It's a drama about discovering and conveying peoples feelings using letters as a device to do so and I'm hard pressed to think how they could have done that better. It also makes real life graphics look like shit.

Thomas, fun story, I am Chinese and I watch similar review + funny anime review. There are so many hyped people who watched the PV and claimed that it is going to be the best anime in 2019 and now they all try to not even mentioning it in their videos. Personally, I am glad this anime looks fantastic and that's probably it. Although there is a story, the story is just not surprising enough to make me want to watch it. I just came from your made in abyss video and made in abyss is the anime that makes me say: "wow, I am going to watch all 13 eps in one night." Also, (it's probably a personal reason y I don't want to keep watching this anime), I talked to one of my "friend" who is like a crazy fan for this anime and he just keep mocking me being an elitist when I told me this is plain and animation is the only good thing. Anyway, good animation, but no incentive for me to watch the whole thing.

Violet Evergarden is pretty visually, but the story is so bad and main character is basically emotionless/brain-dead mouthpiece so writer could made random episodes to talk about love. This is going to be the overrated show of the season.

On the topic of reading "kokkoku" (こっこく). There are not two "K" as you say, but this is how small "tsu" (っ) is transcribed from Japanese in this case. Small "tsu" creates a kind of pause, like getting stuck for a while, before pronouncing following syllable.

I'm glad you covered this one. I only watch 1 or 2 anime a season at most, so I really try to pick something I'll like. I was thinking about watching this one, but all I really knew is that...well, it looked pretty. It's good to hear a bit here about what the show's actually like.

I would have been really worried if you gave it a NOT. Everyone will be out for your ass. This was definitely one of the best 1st episodes i have seen all season, even more so than Cardcaptor Sakura even though I love it so much. ^_^
