It looks as though Mitch Marner is being made out to be the scapegoat in Toronto after another early playoff exit. The Maple Leafs might look to unload Marner and his nearly $11-million a year salary with one season remaining on his current contract. The rumor mill has been cooking with Marner's name mentioned in trades with Nashville, Columbus, Anaheim, Edmonton, Pittsburgh and Chicago. We believe Marner has a no-move clause so he will choose which deal would make the most sense. one proposed trade would put the 100-point player in Las Vegas in a deal for Shea Theodore and this year's VGK first-round pick. The Golden Knights have six pending UFA's. Let's say VGK doesn't resign any of them and has to rely on only players in the organization. The Golden Knights special teams were not exceptional this past season, although the power play unit finished in the top 10 (7th), but fell apart on the penalty kill at 16. A lot can be attributed to the number of different players that were on those units due to injuries. Will VGK be better on special teams when 100% next season?
